Diary Entry #3
Dear Diary,

It's been almost 2 months since I last wrote to you, diary. And guess what. NOTHING'S CHANGED. The third estate is still starving and no-one's making an effort to actually make the change everyone's planning. The great Napoleon Bonaparte, I think, is starting to save this country. I have one thing against him though. He's taking over a lot of land, but right now, I think that instead of trying to expand the country, I think we have to work on our effective use of money for the starving people.

Guess what! I met Rosabel Côté today. She is a third estate member like me, and she is the most beautiful girl I've ever seen in my life. She's about my age, and I think we could become good friends. She works at a clothing store, which sells the most ostentatious dresses I've seen in my life. She is a very hard worker. I met her when Monsieur Delitante wanted me to get an inexpensive dress as a gift to a cousin. I entered, and suddenly her eyes lit up. She came to me and said, "I've never seen anyone so young in this store! How can I help you? You seem my age!" I was glad to meet somebody that was similar age as me. We started talking about the different dresses there were in the store when someone shushed us. We giggled together, and it felt so good to be around someone young and energetic like me. We started going into the topic of what was happening with Napoleon, and apparently, she admires him. He is a hero to her, because he's expanding France and making the country even stronger. I realized that she wasn't as poor as me. But still, we hope to meet each other again.

Until next time, when hopefully things have gotten better,

Diary Entry #2
Dear Diary,

Oh, it has been such a long time since I’ve written to you. Just for you to know, the situation of the rulers of France has become worse. Now people want to start a revolution so they could kick the King and Queen off the throne and make France a democracy.

There are two sides now; Jacobins and Girondists. The Jacobins want to start a revolution and the Girondists generally just want the country to stay the way it is. I’m still in the middle of choosing which side I will go to, but one thing I am sure of is that if a revolution gets started Mother and I will have even less food to eat due to the cost of the revolution that probably the third estate is going to have to pay.

Something interesting happened today. I went to the Gusteau Bakery, the bakery with the best but cheapest bread, as ordered by Monsier Delitante, to buy many loaves of bread due to him going away for several days on a trip that I do not know about. In the Gusteau Bakery I saw an elegant looking girl that was having a conversation with the baker. This may seem far fetched, but I think that the two may be in love.

I was picking out the loaves of bread when the girl walked up to me. She greeted me and introduced herself as Amélie Genevive, a girl who works for one of the richest families I know. She came up to me with a confused face and asked me, “You seem like a smart girl! Are you Jacobin or Girondist?”. I told her I didn’t know yet, and then we had a small conversation about my education, whether I was learning anything, her life and much more. When she heard that I was not currently getting an education, she invited me to her night school! I told her I would think about it, but I think I might go.

Yours Truly,

Andreé Evelyn-Fluerette

Diary Entry #1:
Dear Diary,

Today I was just helping Master Delitante with delivering pieces of bread to his family when I saw a huge mob while passing the Bastille Prison. I don't want to mention a lot about it but I'm just going to say that I don't want to think too much of it.

Just to keep you up to date about what is happening in this country these days, King Louis the XVI is doing the poorest job anyone could do at being a king. King Louis XVI is putting the country even more in debt, although it was already in national debt from helping the Americans on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.

Marie Antoinette isn't making the brightest choices either, she lost 1.5 million dollars last year while gambling and playing cards, and I'm pretty sure a large chunk of that money wasn't hers.

Today, I met a wonderful lady two years my senior. She is a graceful weaver, and I was at her workplace waiting for her to carry out Master Delitante's orders. While she was weaving we talked about current events. She is so intelligent and knows so much!! Our conversations flow well when we talk and she feels like a sister to me already although I've just met her. We got a good laugh when talking about the King's beheading. Apparently she went, but I couldn't go because I had Master's work and I often find it gruesome to watch people enjoy another person's extreme pain. I hope to see her again, so we can talk more.

These days, Master Delitante doesn't seem too happy. He seems always weary and hungry. He's always been a determined man, trying to support himself, but these days, when I just take a quick peek at what he is doing, he is just usually trying to savor the taste of the last piece of bread he has. Apparently, he doesn’t have enough money to buy as much bread as he used to. Apparently, the cost of bread is rising very fast, and Master Delitante can’t keep up with it. My salary is staying the same, and Mother’s still ill.

I keep trying to help Master Delitante with his crafts making work and his bakery work, both at the same time, but with so little material and supply, I don’t know how to help him now.

Although I’m trying very hard, Master Delitante won’t raise my daily salary. It’s barely enough to feed both my sickly mother and I, but we also have to pay the tax. I’ve heard that the clergies and the nobles aren’t paying taxes but only us, the peasants, are and I don’t think that’s fair. The problem is, right now, my mother and I are struggling too much to be thinking about what is happening to our country.

Master Delitante’s calling me, I think he wants me to fetch something from the market.

Until then,
Andreé Evelyn-Fluerette
